LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will announce the national team for the T20I series against England in the next couple of days.
England will be touring Pakistan for a seven-game T20I, which kicks off on 20 September at Karachi's National Stadium. According to details, the visiting team will arrive on September 15, while the national team will meet in Karachi on September 16.
Meanwhile, the deadline for the announcement of the ICC Twenty20 2022 World Cup team is also September 15, but the PCB has not contacted the international governing body for an extension. The poor performance of the batters in the recently concluded T20 Asia Cup 2022 led the selection committee to announce a unique team.
The batting lineup combination is likely to be changed, while it is also possible that there are two goalkeepers on the team. Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is still in rehab in London and hasn't started bowling yet. All these problems are a headache for the think tank. However, the local cricket governing body will contact the ICC to extend the deadline and then, if permission is granted, the team for the World Cup will be announced during the series against England. If not, both teams will be announced on September 15th, along with the reserve players.
